About this event

Public Health is a team event (2 to 6 members) open to all three divisions, sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service. The 2026-27 topic is Fact-Check Your Feed: Taking Down Health Myths Before They Spread, about recognizing and stopping health misinformation. The team builds a presentation of up to 10 minutes and delivers it live to a real community audience; it can use posters, music, props, costumes or anything else, since this is one of the only HOSA events where props are allowed. Round One is a 3-minute video trailer, uploaded as a public link by May 15, whose job is to convince the judges they need to see the full show; it is scored out of 90 points. Every team at ILC must also attend a required display time showing the trailer on a battery-powered device (a 15-point deduction if missed). The top-scoring teams advance to Round Two, where they get 3 minutes to set up, state the date and audience of their community presentation, perform the full presentation in 10 minutes for a possibly different panel of judges, and tear down in 3 minutes; it is scored out of 115 points. All members must speak. Trailer and presentation scores are added, and ties are broken by the highest-value rubric sections. Teams are also asked to complete HOSA's pre- and post-surveys.
