About this event
Biomedical Equipment Technician is a solo written test open to the Secondary and Postsecondary/Collegiate divisions. It covers the work of BMETs: the anatomy and physiology behind the devices, how medical devices relate to public safety, safety in healthcare, basic electricity and electronics, technical reasoning, and healthcare IT. The test questions are written from two online courses (AAMI BMET 101 and the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology MET 100 series) that competitors access through a single login. The event is one round: 50 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes with an essay tiebreaker on the back of the answer sheet. Finishing the two courses also qualifies members for a reduced-rate AAMI Certified Associate of Biomedical Technology exam and counts as a pre-apprenticeship pathway.

How you advance
