About this event
Healthcare Administration is a solo written test for the Secondary and Postsecondary/Collegiate divisions. The questions come from two management textbooks, Shortell and Kaluzny's Health Care Management and Introduction to Health Care Management, and the test plan gives equal weight (10 percent each) to ten areas: global delivery systems, leadership frameworks, organization design, motivation and conflict, teams, communication, quality improvement, strategy and mission, health policy and regulation, and consumerism and ethics. The event is one round of 50 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, with an essay tiebreaker written on the back of the answer sheet.

How you advance
How many advance from regionals to states and on to the International Leadership Conference (ILC) depends on your association's rules. Study the official test plan: it lists each section and its share of the test.
