About this event

American Red Cross Chapter Recognition is a chapter recognition event for the Secondary and Postsecondary/Collegiate divisions, sponsored by the American Red Cross. The chapter's members volunteer in any current Red Cross opportunity found through the Volunteer Role Finder, such as Sound the Alarm, Holidays for Heroes, life-saving training courses, blood donor ambassador, medical screener, transportation or kitting roles. Hosting a blood drive with the Red Cross earns the chapter 75 hours. Designated members enter hours in the HOSA Activity Tracking System (one member per group activity) and the chapter advisor must approve them; only approved hours count. The ILC window is June 1, 2026 to May 15, 2027. Recognition levels changed this year: Bronze for 250 to 299.9 hours, Silver for 300 to 399.9 and Gold for 400 or more, with a certificate at ILC rather than medals. Chapters may also submit an optional Chapter Summary Video of up to five minutes by May 15; the Red Cross picks three chapters across both divisions for scholarships of $1,500, $1,000 and $500 and names its Chapter of the Year. Barbara James Service Award hours and ABC blood drives are tracked separately.
