About this event
America's Blood Centers & HOSA Blood Drive is a chapter recognition event open to all three divisions and sponsored by America's Blood Centers. A chapter partners with an ABC member blood center, hosts drives at school or in the community, and records each drive in the ABC data portal (state, charter number, chapter and advisor names, chapter lead, number of donors and the blood center). Every donation made with the member center as part of a HOSA-sponsored drive counts, and ABC's Vein to Vein education program is offered as a resource. The window for international recognition runs from June 1, 2026 to May 15, 2027. Chapters that reach 65 donors are recognized at ILC: Bronze for 65 to 150 donors, Silver for 151 to 249 and Gold for 250 or more, with a certificate rather than medals. The chartered association with the most recruited donors in each membership size band (small, medium and large) receives a plaque, and a joint selection committee gives a Blood Drive Recruitment Award and a Blood Drive Awareness Award. Drives held with the American Red Cross count toward the ARC Chapter Recognition event instead, and any other blood drive goes under the Barbara James Service Award.
