About this event

The Emotional Well-Being Challenge is a team recognition event (2 to 6 members) open to all three divisions and judged only at ILC. It began with SAMHSA, which no longer sponsors it; this year there are no interviews and no scholarships, only certificates. The team chooses a project theme such as normalizing mental health, how to get help, alcohol harm reduction, LGBTQ+ mental health or drug overdose prevention, picks a target audience (peers, community or providers), and builds a presentation of no more than 15 minutes. The team delivers it to the audience, records it with the team members visible, and shares the recording more widely. The team also designs an evaluation plan or tool with pre and post data to measure what the audience learned. One member uploads a public video link and a PDF summary of the evaluation plan by May 15. Judges score the entry out of 75 on video length, the evaluation plan, the rationale for the theme, benefits to the team, importance to the audience, the educational message and delivery; entries scoring 60 or more receive a certificate at the recognition reception, with no medals.
