About this event

Health Literacy Ambassador is an individual recognition event open to all three divisions, sponsored by the National Library of Medicine's ambassadors, that teaches members to evaluate health information and use MedlinePlus as a trusted source in the fight against misinformation. Level One is an online module (best done on a laptop with a personal email for the certificate) followed by a presentation on a MedlinePlus health topic given to peers at a chapter meeting or in class. The email that confirms Level One carries the instructions for Level Two. Level Two is a virtual escape room on the DeckToys platform with puzzles built from MedlinePlus content; members may work in a small group but each must complete it on their own computer and earn their own certificate. Each member then creates one project with MedlinePlus material, such as posters for a physician's office, a newsletter article, materials for a health fair, patient handouts or health tips, presents it to peers, and uploads the Level Two presentation and supporting documents as one PDF (new this year; the activity tracking system is no longer used). Members who finish both levels between June 1, 2026 and May 15, 2027 receive a certificate and pin at ILC, and content must be new each year.
