About this event

HOSA Happenings is a chapter recognition event open to all three divisions, usually coordinated by the chapter historian with contributions from other members. The chapter picks one communication tool for the year, such as a print or electronic newsletter, website, blog or social media platform, and submits four to eight 8.5 by 11 inch pages of it plus the cover page from the guidelines. Submissions must follow school district rules on photos and personal information and copyright law. Two chapters at the same school or district may submit together under one charter number. The event is judged at the chartered association level with a 100-point rating sheet covering general appearance, content quality (chapter news, health information articles and celebration of members), organization, mechanics and the page requirement. Entries scoring 80 or more are eligible for recognition at ILC, where the chapter receives a certificate (no medals) and may take part in an optional project display with a printed copy or a battery-powered device. ILC does not judge the event itself; state advisors submit qualifying chapters through a special activity form.
